November '06 WINTER -vs- May '07 SPRING
- set the record for the most Wet month since 1891 - over 115" of
wet stuff.
In the last week we set some more records for the coldest days in a
November for the last 88 years. Followed by yet more - winds breaking
100 year records and power outages for all.
 |
| I didn't get many changes done during this
time. Mostly just upkeep, clean up, rearranging and general living.
Not only did we get some record cold days and record snows,
but later on we got some 100 year record breaking wind storms. The
wind was much scarier than the snow and ice. With all these huge
trees, we didn't get any sleep on either of the 2 nights with 80 mph winds.
Many neighbors lost trees, 4 days without power for us, and up to 12 days
without power for other folks in the area. It was extreme devastation
around here. We were very lucky not to have suffered much. Lost 2
canopy's, and many branches. On the contrary, we scored lots of
firewood for next year by helping clean up the downed trees. The
entire property was layered with branches and debris. It has been about 4
months and I still have piles of debris from that big wind storm.

Now that it is finally May, I wanted to take
a few similar pictures of the house like the one above. What a huge
difference.
I don't think our grass seed took.
Now tons of yard work and clean up after those storms can begin. Plus,
I have many small and medium jobs to fit into my schedule. Heck, the
6' ladder is 'STILL setting upstairs waiting for me to Finish painting 2
window frames and attic ladder door! then there is the Sauna, walkway
covers, mudroom, tool racks, oh the list goes on and on. |
|

We recently lost Theo the white cat and then about 2 months later we lost
Loki the Australian Sheppard.
Here you can spot "Pearl" the new puppy, another Aussie. |
|

A few shots from around the front and side of the house. We have
spread chips around and are beginning a yard in front where that ole trailer
used to be. Still have piles of building materials, old trailer
tailings and landscaping to work on. I would like to add another
garage and build in a sauna upstairs. Whew, it never ends. |
