The plans we bought earlier wouldn't fit into the space behind the trailer.  Our search for plans 'again' was on.  Many hours of looking through books, internet searches, went on till finally I sketched out a rough idea for most of what we wanted that would "fit" in the space.
Eventually I got a software program to help draw up some plans so the architect could do his magic then the engineer would have to do an engineering plan for our Sing Logs.  I spent countless hours coming up with some plans using Punch Building software for the architect.

Unfortunately, Dulane wanted some features on this house that either would not fit into the plan or wouldn't fit the space, and a few I just didn't understand how to do!  This caused some problems that have never gone away and I continue to get bombarded with "I never got what I wanted" arguments.

We finally found an architect familiar with Sing Log building, and also found a few engineers familiar with Sing Logs.  (Having to get specialists for our Sing Logs was a costly requirement for our building.)  The architect told us it would cost about $3,-$4 thousand to take my Punch plans and produce building plans.  We were flabbergasted at the cost.  People told us things would cost more than we anticipated, and they were right - right from the start.
That stalled our progress for a while.  I went to some more Sing Log seminars and met folks who had actually done their own plans.  They were rough looking, pencil & pen on large paper plans.  Not professional looking at all, but they passed the permitting process.  - - - So, I decided if they could do it, I could do it

I started working on finalizing my own building plans in early January '03.  I was slow, had to learn Lots of terms, needs, tons of stuff along the way.  My plans were not ready for permitting till August '03.  Slow, rough, rugged, amateur, but submit-able.

In March I sent what I had to the Engineer and he took a couple months to produce the required engineering plan and report.  But, by then my plans had changed significantly and I had to work back and forth with the engineer for the next 3 months.
