These
shots attempt to show the very complicated had framed bay area roof section.
This took about 2 weeks of work alone.
Multiple compound angles were required to make smooth transitions in
pitch, angle, and edging. Greg called it "Da Puzzle" That bay area took 2 full weeks longer than
planned to complete.
Dulane found some cheap 3-Tab roofing for free which we used on the
garage.
We matched it exactly on the main house with high grade
architectural shingles which were not 3-Tab, but had the exact colorations.
Home Depot delivered the roofing on October

Dee
did a fine job picking out some great trim pieces for the garage roof line
trim boards. This is setting up the placement.
Greg had a roofing nailer. With Dave Grout and I, the 3
of us did all the roofing.
The
roofing went quickly - Until we got to the 5 skylights. We really
slowed down on the bay area with it's (5) panels at different angles.
The high grade roof shingles were very thick and difficult to cut.
It
turned into an agonizingly long, time consuming process. We were
literally in a race to beat the coming bad weather. The roofing
took about 5 days longer than anticipated to complete.
Walls up and roof
On.
We
BEAT that bad storm by "one single day". We even had a couple hours
extra to pop in a few windows!
You might notice that
some of the second story windows are in by the time I took some pictures.
They were a challenge to move, hoist into position and set correctly.
Once the windows and exterior doors were on the drafts were minimal and it
was like a real house.
