| This is just the
"rough in electrical and wall insulation. There is more of both in the
finishing stages. I frustrated over the electrical diagram for hours on end,
same as the plumbing. Not knowing those trades I had to learn about them,
or get someone to be my consultant to help me out. I ended up doing a
little of both. |

Fortunately Josh's father-inlaw is an electrical inspector
and could help make sure I do a good job. My hours of sketching and
layout were changed as soon as Ken came over to see how I was doing.
I'm sure glad he was able to help guide me. As soon as he looked at my
electrical receptacle layout and understood my challenges of wiring with
this building setup he say an easier way to lay it out than my hours of
frustration. |

Electric receptacles are put sideways in the top of the 3rd
log. That makes the center of the receptacles right at the 12"
inspectors are looking for. I also mounted the other electrical boxes throughout
the interior walls - just to have it done and so I could get a better
conceptualization of how those wires are actually going to have to run! |
|
I had the electrical inspector out at the 3rd log level only
to learn he could have come at the next level and still seen what he needed
to before insulation. Working on the electrical has been one of my
biggest challenges, and I won't know if I did things right until I try the
power. Problem is, if there is a problem with any electrical inside a
Sing log - I will not be able to fix it.
I ran what wires I had to in the Sing Logs as we were
building. I designed this electrical so I sourced the actual power via
another electrical fixture on the inside walls, that way I didn't have to
have any lengths of wires running from the far side of the garage through
the house. Those would be in the way and a real hassle to work around. |

This is what they picture the expandable foam insulation looks like.
I have them come out every 4 feet height of Sing Logs - "After" any
electrical inspection. As you can tell, once the insulation is shot
into the log interiors it expands and would completely hide the electrical
components the inspector needs to see. Not only that, once this foam
is in place I will not be able to "Fix" any wiring I happen to have a
problem with. I just hope I did a good job of it. Nice things
about this Icenene Expanding Foam Insulation:
- It is Non-toxic
- It completely fills all gaps, and voids
- It is fantastic sound dampening
- It is some of the best "R" value per inch you can buy
- It seals the cavity so I don't need any fire blocking
